Got my podcast working and two church members testing it out for me!

If I create new studies and attach a media file to them in a podcast, at what point is the podcast updated?

Does this happen automatically or do I need to re-save the podcast XML?

My plan is to upload sermons once a week (e.g. Sunday night) and hope they will appear in the podcast almost immediately - what is the best approach to achieve this?

Also, how do I use Episode Title-Custom? I'd liek the title to include the sermon date rather than the publish date ...

Two ways to update the podcast.

1. After adding a media file to a podcast, go to the podcast tab, edit the podcast, then click on Write XML

2. Install the podcast plugin from this site which will publish your podcast every x hours that you specify.

As far as a custom episode title, it works just like the custom from anywhere else in the component - using the /helpers/custom.php. You can use anything including fields in brackets like {studydate} in combination with html or just text. In theory that should work the same. So you should be able to do the title and date like you wanted. Try it out!

I'm having difficulties locating the podcast plug-in. I looked in all of the download directories, is it combined with another file or am I just missing it?

You only need the plugin for auto-publishing the XML file - yuo can just click on Write XML File as a manual way of doing it. Of course this assumes you only do it occasionally (e.g. I do it weekly) and that there aren't lots of different people adding media.

Thanks for the assistance. The manual publishing of the podcast XML file works fine. I downloaded and installed the podcast plugin. Is there any documentation on how to configure it? I didn't see any new configuration tab to set it up. Do I need to manually modify the PHP or does it have some default setting for publishing frequency already?

Hi Nathan,

the parameters for the plugin are under your Plugins tab - look for Bible Study Podcast Publishing system plugin. You configure it there.
